Focused on Multi-User Solutions
IGC, International (formerly Intelligent Graphics Corporation) was established in 1985 in San Jose, California. The company developed one of the first multi-user DOS/Windows operating systems based on Intel's 32-bit processor architecture. IGC pioneered DOS application support with its DPMI specification co-developed with Intel and Microsoft. In 1998 it was acquired by Prologue Software based in Paris, France and now boasts over 1.5 million seats installed worldwide with over 200 employees. Prologue Software is publicly traded on the French Nouveau Marché stock exchange.
IGCs first product VM/386® was developed for the Intel 80386 processor as a 32-bit multi-user operating system designed to provide true preemptive multi-tasking and multi-threading of DOS/Windows tasks, with all of the stability and speed of mainframe systems. Users at non-intelligent text or graphics stations were able to share the same PC yet feel like they had their own system. VM/386® was awarded PC Magazines Editors Choice Award. It even beat out Microsofts Windows for best multi-tasking OS. Since its introduction in 1987, VM/386 has flourished. IGC has invested millions of dollars in the VM/386 product family and has firmly established itself as the leader in multi-user DOS/Windows technology.
Investing Heavily in the Future
In August of 1995, IGC further strengthened its technology and market position by acquiring the 386/MultiWare® product line from its competitor, Alloy, a subsidiary of Impulse Technology, Inc. MultiWare has the longest field-proven record of any multi-user DOS system on the market. Acquiring Alloy's technology--and its 50,000-site customer base--positioned IGC as the number one multi-user DOS provider in the industry.
In 1997, IGC licensed the Wintimes technology from Prologue Software to provide the multi-user Windows NT® kernel support for IGC's new thin client MultiNode® operating system. Prologue was one of only two companies in the world with multi-user NT capabilities. This technology was later acquired by Microsoft for use in the Windows Terminal Server Edition (Hydra) operating system. MultiNode® is a thin client Windows NT based operating system which allows up to 32 users from a single host PC. It the best performing and lowest cost Windows NT thin client solution on the market today.
Adding on to the success of MultiNode we released MTerm Terminal Server for the Windows NT operating system. MTerm allows a Windows NT host to support up to 256 text users local or remote. MTerm preserves your investment in text based solutions while at the same allows for a simple migration path to a Windows NT platform. It truly is the "Worry-Free Route to NT".
