MultiNode

MultiNode software enables Windows NT to be a multiuser host for inexpensive graphics workstations. Each workstation user has access to full PC processing power and all of the capabilities of the host PC.
MultiNode does not alter Windows NT's abilities and supports NT features such as symmetric multi-processing, peer to peer connectivity, security, and built in RAID and RAS capabilities. In addition, multiple Windows NT servers can be connected for an enterprise-wide solution. MultiNode software is available in base packages of 3, 5, and 9-users with 4-user add-on packages available.

A MultiNode set-up requires:
- A Host PC running Microsoft Windows NT
- A multiport SVGA controller card* which installs in the host PC
- Small flat base units that sit at each user station.
- Standard category 5 cables that connect the multiport card to the base units
- SVGA monitors, keyboards, and any other serial and parallel devices for each user
Only video, keyboard, and I/O data are transmitted between the base unit and multiport card. At 64 Mbps, this provides a refresh rate hundreds of times that of a standard text terminal. File and program data travel only within the host PC at bus speeds (several thousand Mbps).
Multiport SVGA controllers are 16-bit ISA cards which support 4 users per card (MXSGXCONT4) or 2 users per card (MXSGXCONT2). The ports on these are RJ/45.
SVGA base units (MXSGXBASE) are 11.5"x 11.5"x 1.75" cases. Each base unit supports resolutions up to 1024 x 768 x 256 colors and is equipped with the following industry standard interfaces on the rear panel:
- SVGA monitor port
- Keyboard port
- (2) RS-232 serial port
- Parallel port
Cable between the controller card and base units is standard class 5 (10baseT) and may go up to 500 feet between the controller in the host PC and the Maxspeed base unit.
* The legacy Maxspeed SV VGA product line is also supported.
