IGC Press Release
IGC Adds Telnet Support to MTerm
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL - September, 1998
IGC has enhanced MTerm version 2.0 with new networking features. A robust Telnet server has been added to allow terminals to connect to MTerm over TCP/IP networks. Remote management permits cetnralized control over multiple MTerm servers.
Telnet is the standard Internet protocol for remote terminal applications and is commonly used in Unix installations. Telnet server capabilities are built into MTerm to provide access via a TCP/IP network connection (local or remote). The MTerm Management Utility enables complete management from any station running Windows NT and connected with TCP/IP.
PCTWIN is a 32-bit client for Telnet that is included in the MTerm package. It works with Windows 9x/NT to provide terminal emulation and includes multiple host capabilities. It can be used to connect via a LAN, WAN, Virtual Private Network, or the Internet.
MTerm software technology enables a single host PC to support up to 255 local or remote workstations running text applications on the Windows NT operating system. The workstations can be: text terminals; thin clients or Windows-based terminals which support the Telnet and/or TCP/IP protocols; or PCs running MTerm's terminal emulation program, PCTERM (which can be used via Telnet or asynchronously).
Founded in 1985, IGC specializes in network solutions for multi-user platforms in POS and replicated site markets.
MTerm is a registered trademarks of IGC. Windows NT is a registered trademark of Microsoft.
